Blood wedding unit 9 research

 For  the blood wedding research we were given a peace of paper with questions on it from Rob to be completed .

An  outline I wanted to achieve personally Within the  production was to be able to project my voice   And   play  a big  character  in the play  .  I successfully accomplish  that by choosing to be the wife in the play . Which wasn't a easy process , I had to work not only by myself but with the hole class . Which involves a lot of team work  and independence for this unit  . We  began very poor  with  this but became more strong together as a class .

 How i learnt how to play my role correctly, i done research at home about how blood wedding is acted  out on from different drama schools on YouTube .  I mainly looked how my character would be played and practice at home . I learnt that my carry has a very bad attitude and cant stand the sight of her husband .  I had to be very angry towards Remal who played my husband and  be very insecure when i was out with him .

The weakness we had during rehearsals was focusing , we struggled to focus as a class which caused a lot of frustration . This had cause a few of us to stop rehearsing together as a class. And that effected us together for example where we had the ensemble  scene and everyone was on stage .  My own personal problems  problems i had during rehearsals ,  was  concentrating. I couldn't concentrate well because of the atmosphere in the room , i didn't feel motivated to work  and missed out on then time i had to practice my lines .

 I also had trouble staying in character  during rehearsals , this was because i am very easily distracted and  would always  start talking .  I was also told repetitively by rob  to take chewing gum out of my mouth which became a habit. I got round this by stop chewing gum in lessons and  i focused  more in lessons and listened to any feed back given to me .


    Our strength  in our rehearsals were  communication skills and leader ship,  within certain roles giving for our production .  For example mine as a production manager I had the opportunity to control them around to do work if needed .    I had the lessons given to me where i was able to talk  to the students in my class and see how they were getting on the work given to them and if they have completed them by the dead line .   We the had Lauren who has a similar role   as mine were she was in charge of rehearsals , and had held one a week before the performance in our dance class .  Which  is another thing i am proud to talk about since as  she took the responsibility up as her self  to get the class working . My conclusion on how things went are really good and i am glad i was able to keep going and stuck   to the work given to me without giving up due to the help we bought together as a class and encourage one another.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    RESEARCH   FOR BLOOD WEDDING .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The  play "Blood wedding" was written by Federico   Garcia Lorca    , he was born on the 5th of June 1898 and had passed away 19 August 1936 (aged 38).  He was known to the world as a playwright, poet, and a theatre director .       the  play we performed by him was  blood wedding , this play was  written in 1932   .   And  first performed   in Madrid in march 1933 . 

  The play  blood wedding is based upon a Spanish background ,  the  name of the play gives you an idea  of what it is about . Which  two ex lovers stuck in a relationship they are not happy in  and began to start seeing each other behind closed door . Most people in the play suspect something going on with them but refuse to talk about it   . The bride and Leonardo run away on her wedding and it all ends in tragedy .  The themes of the play were  generational  conflict    this may mainly look like its between the bridegroom and Leonardo .  

although he is a  man  the bridegroom is similarly constrained , constantly having to explain his life decisions to mother who cannot understand why he would take the risk of association                               with Leonardo Felix s former love.  No matter how much he tries to convince his mother she still despite the fact his re joining a Felix back into the family .     Another theme was in the play that you can see was blame  both  mother and Leonardo  tend to fixate on blame as a way to cope their bitterness about how their lives have turned out .    

  The  Mother believes that knives are responsible for her loss of her husband  and son , and Leonardo rapidly shifts the blame for his bad marriage to various people around him.   Similarly the bride frequently lashed out on the servant  due to her frustration about the impending marriage  .    We discuss together as a class  the style we would be using so that we would be able to play our roles correctly. For example me and Lauren were told to have a lot of hatred towards our husband in the  play and attitude .  And Rebecca   who was playing the mother was told to be given a moody role  who always nagging about the Felix family because they have ruined her family and she still has a lot of hat and hurt in her heart

                                                                                                                                                                      Other plays he  has written are  "Yerma"    it was written in 1934 and first performed that same year .  He describes the play as a "tragic poem "       The play tells the story of a childless woman living in rural Spain   .             another play of his which is the The public but is also known as the Audience is a play  by the  twentieth-century Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca. It was written between 1929 and 1930.                   

 The style we used for the play was very old fashion we tried to stick to the way they talk within the play . For example the simplest thing like saying 
"yeah" rather than  "yes "  was something most of us had to work on because we kept saying it wrong .  we also wore a lot of costume which we though suited the play best   . the boys were in suites and the girls had a fluffy skirts and roses in there hair to make it look traditional.   The make up for the play was also very good were we had ,Maya making mums and dad in the play look older .                                            We cut out a lot of scenes through out the play which i was a bit disappointed  about   because i was looking forward to do the wedding scene and  the killing scene between  Leonardo and the bridegroom .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        For our rehearsals  things that worked was my miming with giving the drink to Remal while we didn't    have prop . also the scene between the  mother and bride when she comes back worked pretty well  . Also the dance worked really well we picked up the dance pretty quick and performed it good  .  The parts that didn't work well were the scene were Obafemi had to sneak up behind his bride and hugged her . This was a struggle for both brides because one was shorter than the other    and one didn't feel comfortable .     Also another that didn't work well was when Obafemi had to add a little part on his acting last minute   and had kept coming on stage the wrong time .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            For the performance our strength were knowing our lines and playing our characters good , we all knew the dance very well and had  been on stage on time majority of the time throughout the play .  we was good when it came to projecting our voice on stage and looked directly to the audience when needed .      Our weakness f or the play was concentration at one point the group want focusing well . one performance went terrible and we had to stay behind as a group to fix  the mistakes we made .  the main problem we had was going on stage the wrong time and some end up laughing on stage . Then there was a lot of noise going on backstage due to the noise because some were talking and he girls had  on hills which were making  a lot of noise which was bad for the actors on stage cause you can barely hear them .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Looking  back from where we began as a class we have improved a  lot   and mature in a way . we have learnt to deal with situations better and work together in a better way .  the main thing i have  learnt this year was to be confident something i thought i had already .                                                                  . 

Gbenga q&a

 Friday morning we had   Gbenga  akinnagbe. Come in and do a  Q&A it was very interesting having  someone famous  come i and share there experience within the drama industry . he explained his journey and how he felt competitive towards the more known actress whilst working with  them . which was very understandable he also talked about a movie which was also starring bow wow , who is another famous perosn that everyone was excited to know how it was like working with him

Production manager unit 9

 For tutorial   we  were given roles  for our production  , i was given the role as a production manager   .   What is  a involved with the planning,  organizing and control of  processes. They ensure that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality.    I done this with my group by holding meetings with  the class giving them work to complete and ask them how they are getting on with the work and give them helpful advice . I had gone around the class one by one and had asked each pair to  how me any work they have done.  the main group that was ahead and on task at all time were the costume design who were Dzyire and Sara  they done a really good job finding perfect out fits that went along with the characters.  Then i had Rebecca who was mainly  working by herself most of the time looking for the lighting  which were really good .   i had Jessica and Darcy looking for props that were also really good .   During our performance day I had to help make sure everyone was in the changing rooms getting change by a percific time .     This was something I was told do by Rob and I had found difficult but eventually got everyone changed on time .     This my become usefully in the future for me not only to do with drama but any other job I may go in the future I fell as if it is relate to every single job in a way . 

evaluation Blood wedding Thursdays group

The day had begin in a rush since I was late to college we  to had met up in the theatre to run a dress rehearsal before the performance but most of us were running late  .    The first thing I done was starting on my hair , I had thought wearing it nice and wavy would be a good idea cause it's makes my hair look more nice and out going .  Which  links to the play ; were suppose to be at a wedding . Not too long after doing my hair and putting on my costume the audience had arrived for our performance .  I had to stay mainly in the changing room so that they wouldn't hear me walking behind stage with my heels on . In the changing rooms there were speakers there that were connected to the theatre which help me keep track of where we were in the play and when I had to go on .  

COSTUME ;  

The costume I had on today was like a long maxi dress with silver sequence around the neck area . This dress was the most suitable for the play out of the few I had chosen before .  

 For example  the dress above is  an idea of what I had in mind before  which was too revealing and  I felt  as if it was inappropriate for the play .   But also for the character because her husband isolates her and doesn't  give her any love or attention . Which is why I felt like dressing very plain and ordinary would make more sense  as to why I don't get attention from him because of the way I dress .  Everyone else in the play was dressed very modern we had the servant dressed in a black and white dress with her hair tied up .    This dress was chosen by the costume designs both Sara  and DZyire who done a very good job because the costume suited her role very well . 

 For the mother she was dressed in a nice burgundy dress with a little bit of sequence around the neck area , Which was very fancy and modern for the play . This dress was worn by both Jessica and. Rebecca  who played the role as the mother

 Both husband  Leonardo and the father were dressed very smart in there suit and ties . Which fits the setting of the play  very well because they are at a wedding so they dress up smart .   We had difficulties finding a pair of smart shoes for Remal who plays the role as Leonardo. But we had told him wearing a plain black shoes would be okay to wear and wouldn't  draw attention  from the audience .

 The dress Dyzire had wore as the bride was very cute and looked very old  fashion and traditional . Which I felt fit the play very well other than Sara dress for the  bride .   Was very modern the style of the dress was a lot more detailed which I did think look nice . But felt as if it was too much for the play and character . 

  For the three woodcutter  were dressed in a checcard  shirt jeans and some boots to go along with it .  the woodcutters didn't have much of a  big role in the play but had all play they're role correctly.

HAIR AND MAKE UP ; 

The  hair and make up  was run by Maya and Deirdre .  Make up was mainly  done by Maya again since as Deirdre didn't know how to do it properly .Maya contoured Jacobs face and use hair spray in his hair and added baby powder to make it grey since as he was playing the  role as the father again .                                                                                                                                                                     . She  then done the same thing she done to Rebecca  to Jessica the day before which was contouring her face and adding baby powder so she can also have grey hair .    For the servant and the guest she added blusher to there faces she kept it mutual since as they didn't have a big role in the play .   The brides had a nice smokey eyes and a nude lipstick . Which was also Mutual  because they're dresses   had drawn  a lot of attention . 

PROPS ; 

   The props were managed by Jessica and Darcey , they were given this role during our production .  And had come up with all props for The show .    The props we mainly used during the performance were chairs and whine glasses for the guests at the wedding . 

The glasses were also useful in a scene were I offered Leonardo a glass of lemon.

We had also had used a knitting kit Yasmin had brought it from home for Rebecca and Jessica to use as the mother for the opening scene . 

 We had a few traditional fans that were bought in by Jessica, then we had a mirror and a brush .   Which  was useful within the scene where the servant is brushing the brides hair .  We had fake axes for the woodcutters and  a knife for Obafemi in the ending scene to appears upstage to represent death . 

     

LIGHTING;  

The lighting for the performance was pretty much the same for every scene . The main colour that stood out  was the  red with tropical colours in the back ground .  We had a spotlight on Obafemi towards the ending . And during the dance we had a red background but a shallow spotlight on the bride and the bride groom .   I was disappointed   with the lights we were given  for our performance , we had Rebecca and Remal in charge of the lightning's and had come up with some brilliant ideas . But there ideas were thrown aside and  over taken by robs ideas .       However we  then had the  three woodcutter  on stage we had a special type of lighting  which showed an outline of trees in a wood .  The lighting is very similar to the one below  i felt like this was one of the best lighting used throughout the play because it had a lot of detail towards it an gave the audience  a clear image there were in the woods .     

  MUSIC ;    
The music for the play was mainly the same song through out  the entire play , we had used the same instrumental   for  the opening of the performance and the end  . The only different song we used within the performance was the song for the dance , which I really liked the song  it was very catchy and was easy to dance  too.     the name of the song was  Gipsy kings -djobi djoba  . 





The box office which is basically outside  where the guest come later on in the evening was decorated with some pepper lights  a painting saying blood wedding and a picture of the cast .  The box office was seen by family members and friends that had visited in the evening .

The play we performed in the evening was terrible we had made a lot of noise back stage which  wasn't suppose to happened since as we practice that during rehearsals especially for the girls who were wearing hills were told to walk on tippy toes behind stage to prevent noise .  And to top it off we had Sara back stage  who was crying because she had gone on stage with her dress back to front .  this had cause some actors  coming on stage late because they were too busy trying to comfort Sara and Yamine .  the dance was very messy and I had forgotten my  lines where  i had to talk to the bridegroom after  the dance .  there was also a lot of laughing going on stage which caused the audience to laugh along with us .    after we had done our performance we had to shorten our brake and work on our peace , Rob was very disappointed in the work we had progress and wanted to improve it with us . our final performance in the evening was one of the best everything went good   there was no mistake no laughing on stage and no noise behind stage .    The dance had gone really good and had change since as I was the wife  I had to dance with Remal which went really good .
                                                                                                                                                                                                   How i think   played   my role  Ihonestly believe Iplayed my role amazingly, all the hard  work and practice had played off  . I had began to show a lot of hatred and suspicion towards my husband  which I found difficult at first because I didn't understand why. And also because the person  I  had to hate I didn't actually hate them or have anything against them . Which is were the drama comes in I had to empathies and imagine I was talking to someone I had hate , which had really worked because my attitude had picked up more  towards him .    My  overall though and opinion were  very impressed  by  how   I performed on Thursday compared to how I was on Wednesday.  I  had gain a lot of confidence compared  Wednesday. Were   was  very nervous on stage and  i had forgotten my lines ,  which  is why I  was very disappointed in my self because I had practice a lot and was upset by the out come.

Wednesday performance day ( blood wedding)

We started college earlier today so that we could get majority of the work we have left in our play done . We manage to go through both Thursday's and Wednesday's group .  The first group we done first were the Wednesday group we  ran through that group very fast and  easy we had a little mistakes but was very good compared to other rehearsals we've had in the past . The way the scene  are set up are very easy for the actors . The lighting  they've Selected for the scenes were mainly red , which symbolize the colour blood in the name of the play blood wedding . But also was wrong because we were given roles within our production and Rebecca and Remal were in charge of the lighting and most of the lighting they have chose for they're play wasn't used within the  play.    But within the scenes the red stands for more than one theme for example love hatred  or even maybe happy since as we have the same colour in the dance so may also stand for happy .     

Me and Remal who plays Leonardo my husband we were able to run through the hole play from top to bottom .  We both have learnt majority of our lines but the scene we would need  more working on the most would be the scene where we are heading of to the wedding , I couldn't remember my lines correctly . We then done the scene that needs most working on which  was  when were  about to begin the dance . This scene needs a lot of work and every one needs to be focus because multiple of times during rehearsals we are never on stage at the right time that was set . This mistake also happened during our performance but most actors played it off as if it was suppose to happen so that the audience would realize .

The role I played on Wednesday  was the third girl I didn't have much of a role I mainly had three lines   which I  had forgotten  throughout my performance on both evening and afternoon because I had become nervous on stage .  I found in difficult to look up towards the audience and had kept my head down majority of the performance .  How I felt after that performance was dreadful I felt disappointed in myself because I took more time out learning the role as the wife more than the third girl .  I thought I would be able to learn my lines on time and play my role good but failed my  expectations and had not done as planned , this had me very upset because my parents and siblings were out there in the audience watching me fail .   How I plan to not make the same mistake is to learn my lines and make sure I know them by heart  and to become more confidence on stage and be more in character rather than being myself worrying about what the audience would think if I do or say something silly .

  The dance I found  went very good we all was on time and had played it off  that we was at a wedding and had showed the audience we were having a good time . We had to keep a smile on our face and do a bit of freestyle if you wasn't paired  up with a partner .

 

 The time management were a bit messy there were times actors came on stage at the wrong time and some were even late .  this kept going on within most of our performances . the main one was were Obafemi  had a role to come on stage behind the bride and Leonardo   to represent death but he kept going on stage early and the audience found it funny because of the face he was pulling whilst holding the  knife .  And it had look strange because the spotlight wasn't there due to the time he had appeared on stage   which cause no  illusion so it was very obvious he was at the wrong place at the wrong time .   The lack of promotion for the show in the afternoon was very poor there wasn't really much of an audience out there other than a few family member's including mine  I felt like we should of promoted the play a bit more and probably  change the timing  so that it could be more earlier and more student would of rather coming.   The organization for the play was very good from where we be gone we started off terrible but it slowly become better as we had Jessica and Darcy    who were in charge of the props helping  organizing  props needed for the performance .

LIGHTING ;    The lighting for the performance was pretty much the same throughout the hole performance  we had a red colour in the background throughout the play . I felt like this was there mainly to represent death love and war that goes on during the play .  For the dance we had tropical colours for example pink red and  orange ,  these colours were very bright which drawn  a lot of attention toward  the audience to let them know we are celebrating .  We also then had a little spotlight on the bride and the groom   while they were dancing  this was because they were the main actors during the performance .    We also had a spotlight on Obafemi  towards the  ending to symbolize death towards him and Leonardo .

My favorite lighting used for our performance was for the woodcutters when they were on stage  , they had a green gloomy back ground with an outline of trees to make it look they were actually In  the woods  .   This was one of the best lighting used since as I was disappointed I  the lighting used for the permanence  since as they didn't use the one planned .   Which was suppose to be Rebbeca and  Remal ideas because they were in charge of lighting  for our production . They had come up with really good ideas for the performance but they have been thrown aside and were over taken by Rob and jacks ideas .   The ending scene were we all had to appear on stage for  Jessica's who was playing the mother today and the brides monologue , we had to stand   as they both say there monologue . The lighting for the ending scene had looked for powerful it had said a lot  for the hole play .

   For each scene that changes we had a black out so that we could change up the setting off the scenes in time without being notice by the audience .

MUSIC ;   

  

The music for the play was mainly the same song through out  the entire play , we had used the same instrumental   for  the opening of the performance and the end  . The only different song we used within the performance was the song for the dance , which i really liked the song  it was very catchy and was easy to dance  too.     the name of the song was  Gipsy kings -djobi djoba  .

 The costume the bride  wore today who was played by Dzyire was  nice white traditional dress with a few little details .

  The dress the mother wore who was  played by Rebecca   was a nice burgundy dress with some sequence around the neck area

  The groom Leonardo and the father were all dresses the same which was very smart in suites and ties .

  For the servant she was dressed in a black and white dress which looked very good for her character  we then had her hair tied which looked really good all together

 The tree woodcutters were in checcard shirts jeans ans some boots with axes in there hands so it was clear to the audience who they were

SET DESIGN ;

  The set design for our performance  was set up for easy so that we would be

able to switch into different scenes .  We had a table full of  champagne glasses a  bottle which was always kept on stage for the guest , We had the opening scene with the chairs and a table with a bowl of grapes  there .  This was for the scene with the mother and son .   

 

 PROPS ;

The props we had  for our performance were mainly chairs we had some for the opening scene  and on the table for the guest.  We had a  two traditional fans that were bought in by Jessica   These were used by the brides and the mother during the performance .   Jessica  and Darcey had also ordered   a fake baby for Lauren  who played the wife , and Remal  because they have a child together in the play .   They got some apple juice for when Lauren had to give Remal some lemonade  and also a bunch for the bride .

 

The weakness for our play would have to be timing and lines which were missed by a few characters, which was because most were never and had forgotten a few lines .  there were also moments were we had actors coming on stage late or even a bit to early but  due to the amount of team work we put in we work together and help each other out by empathizing on stage .  The lighting on the stage set was changed and I was disappointed . Performance blood wedding ( Wednesday group )

It had finally come to the day we perform our peace to our appears and family .  The hole play went very smoothly and all lines were on time . The day started of by us starting our rehearsal lessons in the theatre with rob and jack the lighting technical.  We went through the play and were given notes back from rob to help us work on any mistakes that were made during rehearsals . The play was performed twice today and also tomorrow the same .  We first performed the play with some of the performing arts students then after was our family members or friends .  We had to be in different dressing rooms and we had to change Into our costumes and have Maya do our hair and make up , the make up  I had today was very cute it would a light shade of red with a brown out line to blend it  the make up the father had was to make him look older and have wrinkles so she contoured him and Rebecca's face who were both playing a older character in the play , she also added some grey hair spray so that it can help the audience know they are old .  DZyire who was the bride today had light make up on with a rose in her hair which all girls had other than the servant ; she wasn't really apart of  the wedding .    Remal and obafemi who was playing Leonardo and the bridegroom  didn't have make up on but we're both dressed in suits .  The costume Rebecca had who was the mother today was an old fashion dress which was burgundy . The moon who was played by Alex wore a yellow sheet to symbolize  the moon and the servant who was played by Yasmin's was dress   Black and white . I had wore a tradition Spanish looking dress my silver heels and a black too who  a red rose on the side of my hair . The lighting of the play had begin with a plain white colour which was kinda doll because of the first scene which was with son and mother . For the. Dance we had a bright red light . Monday blood wedding rehearsals until 9

Monday evening we worked through the play , we mainly worked on our que for the play so we can prevent having a empty stage . The play so far seems to be coming together very well I've learnt my lines and learned how to play my role better .  As a class we helped each other out together  we rehearsal in a way as if we were performing we give feedback to one another and help work on any mistakes .  On Tuesday we had the hair and make up team who is run by Maya and deride .      We  had Maya bought in all the actors a preview of how the make up would look and what colours she would be using on each character .
